Getting ready to go to Haiti on Tuesday night with Soles for Souls. We are planning on giving out over 750 shoes to the Haitian people over the four days that we will be there. Prior to handing out each pair, we will wash each persons feet with soap and water. Personally, I feel that the washing of the feet is a more intimate and powerful experience than the giving out of the shoes itself. Humans are humans, money or not, and we all need assistance at at one time or another in life. Giving is a great thing; but the action, thought, and preparation behind it all is what makes giving so profound. I can't wait to spend time with the people and kick it with the kids. I'm out.
